Poverty
A lot of people in Poland live in poverty. If they have right to welfare, they turn to the Department of Social Security. They receive a benefit but it is often too low for them to get by so they often fall into debts. Hopefully, there are a lot of charity organizations which offer financial and material support for people in need.

Homelessness
One of the biggest problems of large cities is homelessness. There are more and more people without permanent place of living who either squat or sleep in cardboard boxes under the bridge or at the railway station. The majority of homeless people keep staying in hopeless and desperate situation. They search for food in rubbish bins or beg in the streets.

Unemployment
The unemployment rate in our country is very high and it is increasing all the time. More and more people are made redundant due to rapid technological progress and economic changes. Those who lose their jobs have a right to receive unemployment benefits after they register in the Unemploy­ment Office. They look for new jobs in job centres or local newspapers.
