Matura tip

Zadanie maturalne

Przeczytaj uważnie artykuł i przyporządkuj poszczególnym jego częściom właściwy tytuł (A–E). Wpisz odpowiednie litery w puste miejsca w tekście. Uwaga: jeden z tytułów nie pasuje do żadnej części tekstu.

Global… freezing?

The Kyoto treaty against global warming came into force on 16th February 2005. Since then all industrialized countries who have signed the treaty are obliged to reduce emission of six major greenhouse gases to avoid further warming of the Earth`s climate.
But simultanously with the voices of scientists warning of global warming the voices of scientists predicting rather global… freezing appeared!

1. ……………………………………………………….
Andriej Pietrowitch Kapica, professor of the Russian Academy of Sciencies, said in his lecture at the Royal Geographical Society:
“Independent methods of measuring temperature on the Earth that have been used for recent 30 years are clear evidence of the global freezing process taking place, not the global warming. Although the amount of carbon dioxide increased twice since the 1970s, it did not result in greenhouse effect. In my opinion most scientists mistook the result as the cause of climate change”.

2. ……………………………………………………….
Professor Kapica is not the only person convinced that we are threatened by global freezing. Bill Bryson in his published in 2003 best seller “A Short History of Nearly Everything” writes that ice cores from Greenland provide evidence that our planet for most of his history has been not a tranquil place the civilization has known, but it has had the periods of warmth as well as bitter cold.

3. ……………………………………………………….
He points out that waters around the West Antarctic Ice sheet have recently warmed by 2.5 Celsius degrees and the collapse is still increasing. It, according to Mr Bryson, should be the real threat people are facing, not the global warming effect, even if a fraction of it has been caused by human beings.

4. ……………………………………………………….
What is the future of our planet going to be? Nobody knows.
But whatever the true cause of climate changes is, we all are obliged to adhere to the regulations that will help to protect our planet from further damage.
As Kofi Annan said: “The world community must act quickly in taking the next steps. We have no time to lose”.

A. The real menace to human beings
B. Increase in carbon dioxide emission
C. Colossal mistake
D. What can we do?
E. Proof of temperature fluctuations on the Earth

  • Sprawdź jeszcze raz zadanie, nim przejdziesz do kolejnego!

Rozwiązanie i omówienie
