All the people are looking at the young man who is clearly visible in the foreground. He is jumping high in the air. He is wearing some special clothes and a helmet. I think the event might be taking place to celebrate for example opening new airlines (we can see the word “airlines” written on a banner). Another possibility is that it is a skateboarding competition. Then the man in the picture could be one of the participants.

I think the man in the picture does not feal fear because when you practice such sports the level of adrenaline in your blood goes higher and what you experience is mostly a thrill, a special excitement which can actually make you feel happy. He must be also excited because so many people are looking at him and admiring him. It must be very pleasant to know that people below are clapping and cheering.

I think there must ba a few reasons for that. Firstly, people have always been looking for something new and extreme sports are a new phenomenon. People have got used to traditional sports and there are not so many new disciplines. Secondly, people like adventure. Extreme sports give a possibility to experience something dangerous – but it is controlled. When you try bungee-jumping it gives you the highest degree of excitement, but at the same time you know it will be over in a few minutes. Now there is an impression that you can buy everything – and you can also buy adventure.
