Around France

What’s the first thing you think of when you say France? Frogs, snails (ślimaki), the Eiffel Tower, wine and of course… fashion and art!

France is one of the most famous countries in the world. Why? Their food is fantastic (sometimes strange: frog legs or snail). The language is beautiful, although (chociaż) very difficult. A romantic atmosphere is always in the air, especially in Paris, and don’t forget about their rich history and people such as Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte.

France is also famous for its art and film industry (przemysł filmowy) and you mustn’t forget fashion. France is a hotbed for trends and designers (projektanci), right next to Italy. Paris is the place where many designers create their collections. One of them was Gabrielle Bonheur ”Coco” Chanel – the most important figure in the history of 20th century fashion. She was born in 1883 and died in 1971. She was one of the greatest and most successful fashion designers in the whole world. In 1921, Chanel No. 5 perfume was introduced. It was a favourite perfume of Marilyn Monroe. Nowadays a bottle of Chanel No. 5 is sold every 30 seconds.

Coco Chanel popularized a typical, worldwide known Chanel suit and the little black dress. Although black dresses existed (istniały) before Coco Chanel, the ones she designed are said to create a fashion standard. Chanel’s clothes are always simple and comfortable but elegant.
