Wallets and purses do get stolen!
Unfortunately, wallets and purses do get stolen or lost on a regular basis. As it has happened to me my biggest concern was the fact that my credit card was also missing. I’ve always thought it would never happen to me. I have never tried to draw up a plan of action. Well, I should have. Now I know that really isn’t as daunting to come up with a “lost” credit card action plan, but of course it is too late.
It was nice to have it! Was!
I got my credit card from my parents. It was easier for them to limit my expenses with piece of plastic than with real money. Whatever I wanted to buy it was OK as long as I did not exceed the limit on my card. Than I was virtually broke as there was no debit open for this card. I was happy to shop online to get new parts for my computer.
It was nice to have it, was.
One afternoon I just noticed that the card was missing…
First I wasn’t sure what to do. I started with scrutinizing my pockets, than my bag and to my utmost horror my whole room. It was nowhere to be found. I have realised that one guy on a bus was standing definitely too close to me.
The toll-free number
I didn’t know what to do next so I asked my dad and he just phoned the toll-free number, that deals solely with reporting stolen cards to the bank. After that I just had to review my bills. Make my bank aware of any questionable deductions from my account that occurred during the time my card was stolen. A lot of paper work. But after that the bank has given me anew card with new pin number.
It seems too obvious to me…
I was lucky no money has left my account without my knowledge. The bank has sent the new card by mail. I activated it in a cash machine and everything is all right now. The bank experts reminded me not to use a pin number that is easy to figure out such as your birth date or phone number. The pointed that I should think of a number that only makes sense to me and keep it that way. I’m just planning to change the pin number because it seems too obvious to me.
Everything ended well…
I got my new credit card and I have learned that all reputable credit card companies have a set policy that helps to protect against loss or theft. All I need to know is how to get this policy to work for me.
