Their opinions

There are many reasons why we decide to leave our own country to start a new life abroad. People all over the world suffer from political problems, natural disasters or simply want to avoid paying huge taxes. But sometimes the reasons are more than casual: we want to have a better work, learn a new language or simply have a break…

Language school
I love foreign languages. I speak fluently German and French. The latter one I know because of my French origins as my father is French. German I’ve learnt at school and on private courses. There is one more language I’d like to learn and this is of course English. That is why I’m planning to go to England and learn the language. First I was thinking only about a summer course but it has showed up to be possible for me to spend almost a year in England. My school takes part in an international language programme and some of the students were able to apply for scholarships to go to England for nine months and I got it.

Bartender
I’m a professional bartender and I work at a club. I like my work and the way that people treat me if they hear what I do. However, the money I earn is not big, actually only tips are good. I’d like to open my own club in the future and that is why, I’ve decided to go abroad. I’ll perfect my skills as a bartender and save money for my dreams to come true. When I have enough money I’ll come back and open my own business with some of my friends maybe. Next month I’m leaving for Dublin.

Earn money baby-sitting
I was looking for an inexpensive way to study English and my friend gave me a leaflet of an au-pair company. At first I thought it’s not a good idea to work and study at the same time. When I have talked with a girl that took part in an au-pair programme and she described it to me I changed my mind. It seemed that I would have time to study, meet my own friends and take care of the children at the same time. It wasn’t a problem that I’m only seventeen; I only needed a written permission from my parents saying they let me go. Currently I’m waiting for an English family to contact me and to tell you the truth I cannot stand the wait.

Have a break
I have just graduated and I still don’t know what to do with myself. I’ve decided to travel a bit. Soon I’ll be off to the United Kingdom. I’m going to go to Cardiff as I love the sea and I’ve read that Wales is similar to Poland. Besides, everybody goes to London or Birmingham now and I need to try something new. I need to get some questions answered about me and I hope I’ll get them by trying to manage on my own abroad. My friends say I’ve lost my mind and my parents look at me as if I’ve got insane but the only thing I know I want to do now is to visit Cardiff.
