The same problem every year! Where to organize your birthday party? What to serve? What to organize to make all your friends say, ”It was the best party I’ve ever been to’’!

The answer is simple: serve caviar (kawior), the best champagne in the world and other munchies (przekąski). Ask Michael Jackson to play a concert for your guests and invite the most popular people in the world! Such a party was organized on 13th July 1996 by the Sultan of Brunei to celebrate (świętować) his 50th birthday. The party cost (kosztowało) 27.2 million USD (16 million USD for Michael)! It was the most expensive (najdroższe) birthday party in history!

Now, how to make your party fabulous? There are some rules you can’t forget:

  • good music – you can hire (zatrudnić) a DJ or ask one of your friends to do the job
  • good food – it doesn’t have to be expensive food. Just prepare lots of different small snacks in different shapes (kształty): egg mice (jajeczne myszy), heart cookies, salad with eyes and mouth
  • good drinks – whatever is inside the glass, a drink will be unforgettable (nie do zapomnienia) if you decorate it with sugary frost (cukrowy szron) and a slice (plasterek) of your favourite fruit
  • good welcome – welcome your guests with a huge smile on your face and don’t keep them waiting (nie pozwól im czekać)! The party starts when the first guest arrives!
  • good location – your flat is OK as long as you don’t have an expensive China collection (kolekcja porcelany). If you want to rent a place, make sure your guests won’t have problems with finding it
  • good mood – whatever happens, you have to be in
  • good mood! Laugh (śmiej się) if you make a mistake or when one of your guests destroys (by accident – niechcący) your fantastic sandwich tower (kanapkową wieżę)

Universal presents

Here’s a short list of presents that are always accepted with a smile. If you don’t have any idea for a gift, choose something from below.

1. a diary (kalendarz) – everybody needs to know what the date is
2. a comic book from your childhood (komiks z dzieciństwa) – it’ll bring back your memories of innocent times
3. fancy pen/pencils set (zestaw wymyślnych długopisów/ołówków) – we use them all the time at school
4. famous and specially packed chocolates (znane i wyjątkowo zapakowane czekoladki) – choose a box in the shape of flower for a girl; a car – for a boy. There are many different boxes
5. a photo frame (ramka na zdjęcie) – everybody has somebody special whose photo can be placed in a frame
6. an open ticket to the cinema (otwarty billet do kina) – so they could choose what movie they want to see

Birthday wishes

Instead of simple „Happy Birthday”, choose something special for a special person:

Birthday Poems

You are very special
And You deserve the best.
I wish You a wonderful life
Filled with love and happiness.
I hope others bring You joy,
Just as You’ve brought joy to me,
Then You can weather any storm
And be all You want to be.

Jesteś wyjątkowy
I zasługujesz na to, co najlepsze.
Życzę Ci cudownego życia
Wypełnionego miłością i szczęściem.
Mam nadzieję, że inni przyniosą Ci tyle radości,
Ile Ty przyniosłeś mi,
Wtedy będziesz mógł rozjaśnić każdą burzę
I być tym, kim chcesz być.

Here’s a posy of flowers, and a basket too,
With Birthday greetings all for You.

z urodzinowymi życzeniami dla Ciebie.
