Dear Santa Claus,

My name is Piotrek. I am a boy and I am already 12 years old. I live in a great village called Baniocha, which is in Poland.
This year I’ve been so good that I should be the angel on the top of the tree.
Santa, I would love you to bring me a computer! Of course, if you can’t bring me a computer, I will be happy to get a book on photography.

Zapamiętaj!

  • Jeżeli piszesz do kogoś, kogo nie znasz, przedstaw się i napisz, skąd jesteś (My name is…; I am from…).
  • Gdy mówisz po angielsku, ile masz lat, musisz użyć czasownika „to be”: I am 14. (Mam 14 lat./dosł: Jestem 14).
  • Istotne różnice: „city” to „miasto” (zazwyczaj duże), „town” to „miasteczko”, a „village” to „wioska”.
  • Kiedy prosisz kogoś o coś (np. o prezent), użyj trybu rozkazującego: Bring me (Przynieś mi); Call me (Zadzwoń do mnie); Write quickly (Napisz szybko). Nie musi to być rozkaz, a jeżeli dodasz „please”, cały list będzie wyglądał bardzo dobrze.
  • W języku angielskim generalnie nie ma formy grzecznościowej „Pan”, „Pani”, „Państwo”. W takiej sytuacji użyjesz po prostu „You”. Na początku możesz czuć się nieswojo, używając do osób starszych lub tych, których nie znasz.
  • Zakończ list w miły sposób: Kisses (całusy), Love (z miłością), Yours (Twój, Twoja), I am looking forward to hearing from you (Z niecierpliwością czekam na odpowiedź). Pamiętaj oczywiście, aby dobrać odpowiednie zakończenie do sytuacji! Np. nie pisz „love”, jeżeli ktoś nie jest Ci zbyt bliski.
  • Gdy adresujesz kopertę, pamiętaj, aby podać adres zwrotny!

  • Aries – They love to think. A board game (gra planszowa) or sudoku book will be perfect!

  • Scorpio – A bowl or mug with their favourite cartoon character (postać z kreskówki). They will love it.
  • Sagittarius – They love discovering. Get a jigsaw (puzzle) or any other puzzle game.
  • Capricorn – A computer game for this person is always a perfect gift.
  • Aquarius – They need something pretty. They will like a ring, bracelet or necklace.
  • Pisces – They are perfect. They will be happy with anything you will give them!
