What is your dream job?

Although they have never been in real situation of job search yet and their first priority is probably still focused more on passing final exams at secondary school with flying colours than finding an outstanding position just after the very last exam in their beloved, old schools, we are completely convinced they will easily meet the challenge of contemporary job market and they will be able to list priorities of their dream job briefly, wittily and racily. Therefore we asked them now, at the commencement of their career life: what is your dream job?

A: Agata, 19, Warsaw: Perhaps it will surprise most of you but I`ve always dreamt of becoming a teacher. Some people joke that this job has all traits of the dream job excluding money, prestige and personal safety, but I don`t take such opinions into consideration. I know what I love about the work: young people, neverending (at least I hope so) enthusiasm, working for most of time on my own initiative and creativity being a sine qua non for success in this job.

B: Tomek, 18, Piaseczno: No cheating, I guess? I`d like it to be as easy as possible to accomplish in my future job. I don`t really care what I`m going to be in charge of. No rigid guidelines, no strict requirements, no bans. Only no`s? Not really. I need to have a huge amount of free time to be focused on my favourite activity. It`s designing websites, surely. What about becoming a professional designer? I haven`t considered it yet, frankly speaking.

C: Paweł, 19, Zagan: It took me plenty of time to find a job that would match my personal profile most. I assume it is a scientist. I find myself very well-organized, accurate, practical and predictable. I like working in labs and carrying on the research of high importance. Certainly, I have not had many opportunities to do it so far but I believe I will be able to dedicate to it in the future. In case the plan did not work out I could become a paleontologist – I used to love T-Rex when I was a little kid!

D: Agnieszka, 18, Cracow: I find the job of an actress appealing because I love being in the spotlight, I am crazy about celebrities and I am unable to save money so I will really have to earn quite a lot! I find school very boring and I`m going to leave for LA as soon as I finish it (it means this year, hurray!). My parents don`t know anything about it yet but I`m sure they`ll be very happy. They support me all the time. When I become an actress I`ll be fulfilled and considerably satisfied.

E: Paula, 18, Sosnowiec: Actually, I have no idea what precisely I`d like to do in the future, but everything I know is that I couldn`t work on a regular basis, with set hours. I hate modern corporations with their fast-
-paced days and impression you must do on all the visitors and passers-by. I need something unusual, maybe even bizarre. Moreover, I crave the financial status the ideal job should bring to me… what could it be? Help me, please!

Jak rozwiązywać taki typ zadania?

  • Przeczytaj tekst najpierw pobieżnie (i bez tłumaczenia każdego słowa).
  • Przeczytaj polecenia i dopiero szukaj do każdego z nich odpowiedniego „dopasowania”.
  • Poszukaj słów kluczy w tekście (np. jeśli szukasz osoby, która lubi swoją obecną pracę, szukaj słowa „praca” i synonimu słowa do „obecny”).
