In the picture we can see three people. Two of them seem to be customers and the woman standing on the right is probably a shop-assistant. She is holding a mobile phone in her left hand. It is one of the most popular models in the world, not very modern one. The photo must have been taken about two or three years ago. I suppose the woman is showing the mobile phone to the couple. Although the background of the picture is misty and I cannot recognize shapes very well I may guess it is the interior of the shop selling telephones. I can see lights and glass shelves with some electronic devices lying on them. There is also a land line telephone behind the woman on the right.

Both the man and the woman are looking at the shop assistant. The black-haired customer is wearing a bright T-shirt. Her hair is tied neatly in a pony-tail. She looks concentrated and interested in the device.

The man has got fair, wavy hair. He is wearing a black T-shirt. At the moment he is smiling, leaning to the shop assistant. He might have asked a question concerning the mobile and now he is waiting for the woman to answer.

All of the people in the picture seem to be in their twenties. I am curious if they will buy the phone they are watching.

Przykładowe odpowiedzi na pytania egzaminatora

1I think these people will buy the mobile phone they are watching. The man is smiling and he seems obviously interested in the purchase. Men and women look at different aspects while buying electronic gadgets – the man asks a lot of technical questions like kind of batteries, presence of ringtones, Bluetooth connectivity or wireless modem. For most women size and colour of the mobile are most important. According to me the woman in the picture is really eager to find out something more about the model her partner likes – I suppose it is the sign the process of buying is approaching the end. They have almost decided to take it.

2Yes, I strongly approve of the opinion. Nowadays most people are unable to imagine communication without mobile phones – we text our friends on their birthdays and other festivals, let our parents know what happens to us when we are away and we take photos of our everyday life using the mobiles. Many teenagers use their mobiles to listen to the music or watch short video films produced by their friends. Moreover, in some countries mobile telephones can do even more – for the Japanese it is the device warning its owner of the earthquake risk! That`s why I`m sure it is the most important device of the former century.

No, I don’t agree with it. I am aware the mobiles are very important for many people but in the 20th century more significant things were invented. In my opinion Internet connection, computers, hypodermic syringes or disposable cups are much more useful for the human beings. Some people treat their mobiles as the closest friends – they are not able to leave the telephone at home going for holidays, turn it off when they are on a date or not answer it being at the classroom. I suppose these people are mobiles’ prisoners. I am happy I can communicate with my friends without this electronic gadget and I don’t limit my private life to short text messages!
