Przykładowy opis ilustracji

In the picture I can see a man at an art exhibition. He is standing and looking at some very modern works of art. There are four paintings in the picture. On the right we can see a picture of four toothbrushes, in the middle two pictures of paintbrushes and on the left a picture showing a shaving brush. We don’t know exactly whether they are very realistic paintings or photographs slightly changed with the use of computers. As works of art they are very modern because they show objects of daily use. The man is looking at the paintings, probably trying to guess why the artist chose such objects and what he means by that. He does not look impressed or fascinated, but rather bored – his face doesn’t show any strong emotions.

Przykładowe odpowiedzi na pytania egzaminatora
1.
I think the artist wanted to show that everything can be an object of art, even ordinary things, such as brushes. Artists in still life have always presented some objects, but they were usually pretty things: plates, bowls, vases with flowers. Everyday objects were not often found interesting. Now artists more often concentrate on ordinary things: There are designers who design things for the kitchen or bathroom, painters who paint them and photographers who take photographs of them, and it is not really strange, because they want to show the world as it is.

Art is very important for me. I love going to galleries and watching exhibitions. If there is an interesting exhibition, sometimes I go twice! I love modern art, although some people say it doesn’t make sense. I think that modern artists more often want to tell us something important about the world, social problems and ourselves than artists did in the past. Art is also important for me personally, because I take photographs. I specialize in black and white portraits. Last year I went to Creete and I took a lot of amazing pictures of old Greek people, which are now hanging on the walls of my room!

Art is not really important for me. I like taking part in culture, but I prefer the cinema. For me traditional art is old-fashioned, and modern art is not more than some crazy ideas. I haven’t seen any interesting exhibition lately and when I went to see the Impressionist paintings the gallery was so crowded that it was hardly possible to see anything. As I said, I prefer watching films – both in the cinema and on DVD. I love Spanish cinema and I have a big collection of Almodovar’s films. I think films are just more interesting than painting or photographs, they are not so static and they are not only visual – they have dialogues and music.
