Przykładowy opis ilustracji
In the picture we can see some people gathered together – and a black car in the centre. Since the car is black and there are flowers on it, I presume the people are going to a funeral. On the car we can see a name – probably it is the name of the person who died. Her name was Esperanza – so she was probably Spanish or from South America. On the left, we can see a bus, which was probably the convenient means of transport for the people gathered on the cemetery. The people do not really look happy, which is clear, as it is a funeral. But they also have an expression of expectation. They are probably waiting for the ceremony – or for the transport to the cemetery or the church.
Przykładowe pytania egzaminatora do ilustracji
- How are people in the picture feeling?
- How do you feel about funerals?
The people in the picture seem to be very unsure. They seem not to know what is going to happen next, although probably they are well aware of the shape of the ceremony. Probably they are also looking at each other and thinking for example about the relationship between the person who died and the people they do not know. I guess close relatives or friends feel really sad, but the people who did not know the deceased person have mixed feelings. They know that they have to show that they are feeling grief, but in fact they are not, or not so much as they should. So for some people funerals are the place when you pretend things you do not feel.
I’ve attended a funeral only once and it was my grandma’s funeral – so I was feeling really awful. It was five years ago. I don’t remember much because I was crying all the time. The worst thing was that I had to meet some relatives I had never seen, and they all said the same, something like, “You loved your grandma, didn’t you?” or “Poor grandma” or “Don’t be sad”. I think they had never visited my grandma but they pretended they knew everything about her. With me it was different, because I really loved my grandma. I don’t like funerals too much. Nobody likes, but some people go to funerals of famous people, but I don’t. I think it is a very private thing to say goodbye to a person you loved. I wouldn’t like strangers to be present at my funeral.
