I would like to be a social worker in the future. I would help people rejected by society and those who find it difficult to cope with everyday problems. I would fight for human rights and diminishing social injustice. I have a lot of deep sympathy for all impoverished people so I would try to help them preserve dignity even if they are unemployed and no place to live.
euthanasia – eutanazja
There are a lot of ethical problems which raise controversy. One of the most discussed ones is euthanasia. Some people consider it an act of mercy and a way to relieve suffering of terminally ill patients.
Others believe it is an act of killing and a lack of respect for human life.
genetic engineering – inżynieria genetyczna
I am definitely against genetic engineering. In my opinion, genetic manipulations may bring more evil than good. It is true that many infertile couples decide on artificial insemination but they had better adopt a child rather than have a test-tube baby. Genetic experiments lead to cloning which is a dangerous interference in nature. I think there should be a ban on cloning all over the world.
corruption – korupcja
One of the serious problems that afflict our country is corruption. Bribery is common among politicians, office workers, doctors and even lawyers. They willingly facilitate setting certain matters if they receive a certain amount of money for it money. This situation will continue until everybody understands that giving and extorting a bribe is a serious crime.
violation of human rights – pogwałcenie praw człowieka
There are a lot of places in the world where human rights are violated. Ethnic cleansing, repressions, tortures that happen in many countries make the citizens emigrate. Authorities oppress and persecute people of opposing views.
capital punishment, death penalty – kara śmierci
Every time when an especially cruel and atrocious crime takes place, people start discussing whether to introduce death penalty or not. They look at a criminal who shows no remorse and think he should be condemned to death. However, from the ethical point of view capital punishment is inhumane.
Moreover, it has been proved that it cannot be regarded as a major deterrent. Therefore it is better to administer life sentence without parole which is also a very severe punishment.
