Uwaga
Zasady użycia przedimka określonego i nieokreślonego przed wyrazem „television” i „radio”:
Jeśli mówimy o telewizji jako o formie spędzania czasu, nie używamy przedimka:

  • How often do you watch TV? – Jak często oglądasz telewizję?
  • What’s on television tonight? – Co jest dziś wieczorem w telewizji?

Inaczej jest w przypadku radia:

  • My dad always listens to the radio while he’s driving.
Mój tata zawsze słucha radia, kiedy prowadzi samochód.

Jeśli mamy na myśli telewizor, wyraz „TV”, „television” itp. poprzedzamy przedimkiem:

  • I decided to get rid of the telly. – Postanowiłem pozbyć się telewizora.
  • She put the vase on the TV. – Postawiła wazon na telewizorze.
  • My cat loves sleeping on the TV set. – Mój kot uwielbia spać na telewizorze.

Uwaga!
Istnieje reguła gramatyczna dotycząca użycia przedimka określonego „the” przed nazwami gazet codziennych i tygodników.

  • Tytuły gazet codziennych na ogół poprzedzone są przedimkiem „the” („The Washington Post”, „The Times”).
  • Tygodniki na ogół nie są poprzedzone przedimkiem („New Scientist”, „Newsweek”), niektóre jednak mają przedimek „the” („The Economist”).
